Reflection

This piece of work is over my whole experience in my comp class. This covers my feelings and my new knowledge that it has given and helped me developed. During my composition semesters I wrote 3 major papers. The first one was a hometown narrative. It had to be something that impacted me during my life to this day. My process for this assignment was very much in my head. I had trouble thinking about what I wanted to write about. My life had pretty much been basic, and I felt as if I had nothing to write about. At the time, I created a page to help me think of the interesting things about me and my hometown. Ultimately, I decided on my move to my hometown. My second writing assignment was an ad analysis . The ad analysis was by far one of the harder assignments I have done. I was not familiar with ethos, pathos, and logos. I had to take extra time to find an ad and study it to the best of my ability. I took a page and wrote down every detail I could see about the ad. While the Lego ...

Comp Review Reflection Journal Post

This post was made after watching a Ted talk. This was made to show the difference our attitudes can make in our day-to-day life.  Fixed vs growth mindset. Fixed run from errors and mistakes. Growth gets excited about new things and hard challenges. Parents teaching kids to be shy and scared of things. Most people in the newer generations cant do anything without getting a reward or being praised. Kids need to be given more confidence in the real world, and they need to be okay with learning new things/trying to do bigger things,Brain function is different based on the type of mindset you have. People with a growth mindset are more likely to retain knowledge and improve their brain function.

Reading Response 4

This non-fiction reading Response is about sleep and the amount college students get. This is targeting the college students to inform them on the impact that sleep and caffeine has on them.  Sleep is a complicated thing. Growing up , I used to fight sleep. I wanted to stay awake to experience the night and its beauty. As I' ve grown older, I have realized how much more sleep I need to get through day-to-day life. Going into college , my sleep schedule was the best it has been in years, but as the semester goes on it has been rapidly declining. I find myself staying up late to finish assignments, or my brain will begin to wonder all over the place. This has caused me to fall into a bad sleep cycle. As the article mentions, it is common for this to happen to college students stressing about their assignments.    In the article they talk about feeling trapped and unaccomplished as a student. There are so many papers to worry about, tests to try and get good g...

Reading Response 2

This Reading Response was to a story about a girl who was the minority in her town. She was trying her hardest to do her best in school but there were still outside forces working against her.  Reading “Who is Malala” there were quite a few things that spoke out to me. At first, I was confused as to where the story took place. The characters introduced had specific thoughts and feelings about certain things. Things I had never heard of before. Th eir culture was extremely strict and supposititious . Religion played a huge role in their c ulture , w hich brought huge heartache because others in their community were against everything they stood for.     There were very few personal connections in this story. Since it is in a whole diff erent country with things I have never had to experience before. Although I had experienced a thing or two that the narrator had mentioned. I grew up in a small town surrounded by bigger towns. Crime was always something I feared ...

Reading Response 1

This was my first reading response I constructed. It was targeting people starting college and having a hard time adjusting and feeling like they are good enough to exceed at a higher level.  When it came to reading “ The Freshman Fear of Failure ,” lots of things spoke to me. I learned a lot of things about people who are going through the same things as me. It gave me a sense of relief to see and hear from people who have gone through what I am currently going through. Many things in this story stuck to me in unusual ways . I also found myself questioning things that the author had mentioned. I was intrigued by many statistics and how much each person can have in common without the actual knowledge of each other .   Reading the paper above made me feel seen in so many ways . Hearing the statistics of the first-year students in college helped me instill a sense of relief that I can make it th rough the hard classes I may take. It helped reassure me that I have b...

Below I have attached an image of my brainstorming technique. This helped me lay out my thoughts for my Ad Analysis paper, and it helped me combine all my ideas with similar ideas to create a better paper.

Protest Argument

This argument is to show the difference songs can make in politics and people's views on the ways of the world. This song is targeting the LGBTQ+ community. In the year 2011, Lady Gaga wrote a big hit. “Born this Way” quickly became the anthem for people of the queer community. This song states that no matter who you are, what you look like, or who you love, we are all the same at the end of the day. We were born who we are for a reason and that should no t be a problem. By a ddressing the different communities of the world, "Born this Way ” g ave empowerment and a voice to many d ifferent cultures , religions, and communities.   The 2000s were a very controversial time. Many people started coming out about who they are, who they love, and why they are the way they are. Although it was not fully accepted at this time, Lady Gaga used her influential voice to help bring a voice to those who did not have one. She wanted to make a statement for the people who were hiding t...
