Protest Argument

This argument is to show the difference songs can make in politics and people's views on the ways of the world. This song is targeting the LGBTQ+ community.

In the year 2011, Lady Gaga wrote a big hit. “Born this Way” quickly became the anthem for people of the queer community. This song states that no matter who you are, what you look like, or who you love, we are all the same at the end of the day. We were born who we are for a reason and that should not be a problem. By addressing the different communities of the world, "Born this Way gave empowerment and a voice to many different cultures, religions, and communities.

The 2000s were a very controversial time. Many people started coming out about who they are, who they love, and why they are the way they are. Although it was not fully accepted at this time, Lady Gaga used her influential voice to help bring a voice to those who did not have one. She wanted to make a statement for the people who were hiding themselves away to please others. She wanted the world to begin to accept people no matter who they were. Gaga once said, “I want to be remembered for helping people realize they are equal, and it does not matter who or what you are.” She was inspired to write this song by a man named Carl Bean. He was an advocate for the gay community, the religious community, and the black community. He was the person who first wrote about being “born this way” Gaga simply played her song off his.

There were many people who used this song to come out about who they were to their friends, family, and also the world. Famous people have also used this song to come out to their community and unite their world with the gay community. Although this song had a huge impact and still does, there are still so many people who have given backlash on the song. Many people think this song was mocking the different communities. It was also found to be slightly racist. People believed that you were not simply born knowing you were gay, transgender, etc. This was a huge upset to people who read into the lyrics deeper than others.

This song was named the anthem of the queer community. It is known for uplifting and empowering the voices who were silenced for being different. Personally, I think this song is outdated now. People are way more accepting than they used to be. More and more people are instead finding this song to be racist and diminishing for the more diverse communities. The legislative courts used to be very against the queer community, but now they have more opportunities than ever. Although it is still used today to help people come out about who they truly are. More and more people are using songs to express themselves and this song helps with that clearly.

With the song “Born this Way” being as popular and used as it is, it is a great song to be used as an anthem. Many people will agree with the song while many do not. Ultimately it can be a personal anthem and not a worldwide anthem. While it has been a great song empowering many people over the last 13 years, there will come a time when it becomes so outdated, and people will begin hating the song for many more reasons than they do now.
